What kind of research are you working on?
"I work in the MECCA Lab doing research on dissemination, accessibility, and mood disorders (specifically bipolar disorder). I have recently been exploring the link between the immune system, the microbiome, and depression."
How does our work at HGAPS impact the field/subfield you want to work in?
"HGAPS has helped me grow my leadership, teaching abilities, my knowledge of assessment and treatment of psychological disorders, and my coding and statistic abilities in a way unparalleled by any other organization that I am a part of. Because I want to get an MD/PhD in psychiatry, getting the research experience, understanding how it applies clinically, and getting the soft skills required will definitely help me succeed in this endeavor."
Why do you like the work we do at HGAPS?
"I feel like what we do in HGAPS is the best way to make a global impact as an undergrad and I am constantly impressed with the level of work and impact we have."

Wesley is a senior on Team Outreach. He would like to go into mental health rehabilitation counseling.
What kind of research would you like to go into?
"I would like to get into studying addiction and depression in a clinical psychological aspect. I recently know people who are suffering from depression and substance abuse and I would like to better understand what they are going through by better understanding addiction and how depression fuels it."
Why do you like the work we do in HGAPS?
"I love that we are making mental health information easily accessible to those who need it most. I believe that we can help a lot of people this way and help open up the conversation around mental health."
