Lizzie is our lovely past-president. She is a junior and the leader of Team Screening Center.
What kind of research are you working on?
"I work in the MECCA Lab doing research on dissemination, accessibility, and mood disorders (specifically bipolar disorder). I have recently been exploring the link between the immune system, the microbiome, and depression."
How does our work at HGAPS impact the field/subfield you want to work in?
"HGAPS has helped me grow my leadership, teaching abilities, my knowledge of assessment and treatment of psychological disorders, and my coding and statistic abilities in a way unparalleled by any other organization that I am a part of. Because I want to get an MD/PhD in psychiatry, getting the research experience, understanding how it applies clinically, and getting the soft skills required will definitely help me succeed in this endeavor."
Why do you like the work we do at HGAPS?
"I feel like what we do in HGAPS is the best way to make a global impact as an undergrad and I am constantly impressed with the level of work and impact we have."
Our members are hardworking students, and HGAPS only represents a small fraction of their time and potential. Here is all the amazing change they are working to make.
